Tropical Storm Hermine Creates Rough Surf at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples, FL

Thursday morning wasn’t the most ideal beach day as Tropical Storm Hermine made her way north past Naples, Florida, about 250 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. The beach at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park was re-nourished with approximately 12 inches of new sand from the storm. However the new sand did cause some problems for the loggerhead sea turtle nests that line beach. The parks Assistant Manager, Mark Nicoletti, informed us that they will try to remove some of the excess sand when the nests get close to their expected hatching date.
