During this informal 20 minute conversation with local Shell Collector, Barb Grove, you will learn about the different types of seashells that can be found on the beaches of SW Florida. Barb is one of the many wonderful volunteers at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in North Naples, Florida. Park Rangers at Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in North Naples, continue the process of removing the excess sand that buried many of the loggerhead sea turtle nests along the beach. Thursday morning wasn’t the most ideal beach day as Tropical Storm Hermine made her way north past Naples, Florida, about 250 miles out in the Gulf of Mexico. On the morning of August 19th, 2013, a nest of baby loggerhead sea turtles hatched on the dunes of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park in Naples, Florida. A park employee discovered the hatchlings being attacked by fire ants. Staff members gathered up the survivors and released them that evening. This is the video footage of their release.
